Why Tony’s TimeOUT blog?
I intend to use this blog to document my life and connect with the thousands of readers of Pittsburgh’s Out and visitors from our website www.outonline.com.
Now that you know why, here’s a little about me.
My name is Tony Molnar-Strejcek, publisher of Pittsburgh’s Out newspaper. I reside with my partner of 19 years, three kids, two dogs and a bird. Many of you already know me or have followed my classifieds to Ed. Check out any copy of Out newspaper dating back to 1989 and you will see my classifieds to him.
In case you are wondering, our oldest child is biologically Ed’s son from a previous marriage. The two younger boys were adopted. All three were incredible additions to our family.
I officially met Ed at Pegasus Lounge in 1989. He was tall, dark and extremely good-looking and still is. We hit it off immediately and moved in together. During our many early years together, we called Sq. Hill and Mt. Washington home until finally buying a house in the eastern suburbs. On June 1, 2001, we were united in Civil Union in Vermont.
I have been with Out Publishing Co. Inc. since 1987. The company went up for sale in 1994. Ed and I purchased it in November of that same year. We felt it was important to keep a quality newspaper like Out in Pittsburgh and locally owned. We are delighted that the entire staff remained through the transfer. In fact, almost all staff members are still with us today. We could not have done it without Jeff Howells, David Doorley, Laura Annibalini, Doe Swank and the rest of Out’s past and current staff. Thank you folks!
It has been a very exciting few week. During this period, we have launched www.outonline.com and OTV to great success. I appreciate all the encouragement and support! A special thank you to David and www.gaylifetv.net.
So come along and enjoy this new journey. I promise it will not be boring!
