It is difficult at times writing this blog.
I often ponder…how much, how little and what should I share. Should I get more personal and unleashed deeper details of my life or do I have an obligation to sprinkle or dump lgbt news all over these pages?
Let me start with my family. I will protect my three boys and Ed (or Eddy to some) until death. You probably agree that some things are meant to be private in a committed relationship. I would never want to sell-out Ed or my relationship to entertain readers of this blog. No matter how juicy it could get.
My relationship with Ed is much more important than TonysTimeOut. Don’t misunderstand me. I love this blog and the newspaper. I just love Ed and my kids more. Enough said, at least for now.
I must admit, I do have a love affair with Out newspaper. It would be sad if I didn’t. The principle reason we purchased the newspaper was for the lgbt community of Pittsburgh and the tri-state area. That may sound like bull to you, but it is the truth. Had we not purchased it, who knows if it would still be published today? Even worse, what if it became an instrument to further someone’s personal agenda to attack or promote lies in editorial content? Newspapers have been purchased to do just that. Eventually, quality suffers, the owner drains it’s resources and the publication folds. Everyone loses.
Ed and I will never let that happen.
Pittsburgh should be proud that it has one of the oldest lgbt regional newspapers in the country. We have serving the region since 1973! Add another 1st to this great city.
I promise never to sell-out the newspaper and will never sell-out my family.
Yes, it is true… I want this newspaper to continue to be successful. This is possible by the support of you, Out’s loyal reader and a strong support system at home, headed by none other than Ed.
:-) He loves it when I plug his name.
I strongly believe in equal rights for everyone. This includes same-sex marriage. Marriage is not for everyone, but shouldn’t that decision be ours to make?
And, more than anything, I believe in you and in our community. The possibilities are endless if we work together…no more labels, no more separation, no more hate. Let’s break down the walls between men and women, black and white, and yes, lgbt and straight communities.
President-elect… R U listening? Can U help? Or can we handle this one on our own?
