What a week. It all started Sunday with my birthday party and the Pittsburgh Steelers. If Sunday is the kick off (or first day of the week), than I should have know it would be an interesting one.
Try having 30 people crammed into a room watching the Steelers while you are opening gifts. There were so many mood swings going on in my house that we could have invited a therapist and kept them busy for a long time. LOL. But, the big news of the day was the Steelers came through and won. The party continued…
Chris, our oldest, had surgery Monday morning at UPMC. The surgery went well and by the afternoon he was home with Ed. Ed was at his every beck and call. At first, I think Ed enjoyed it, but as the week wore on, Ed seemed to have too many things on his plate. Like the trooper (and excellent father) Ed is, he adjusted and was on top of everything. He makes sure Chris gets his medicines on the hour and that his exercises are done three times a day. Ed is not without a helper. Chris’ girlfriend, Heather has been at our house all week. Yes, I said all week. Chris brought her home from school. They both attend the same college and we thought it would be better if she stayed with us until her family arrived in Pittsburgh from Alaska.
Chris is a good kid and is turning into a pretty good man. We trust him, and after meeting Heather several months ago, we trust her too.
Trust me, there are rules–very strict rules. They both understand them and there have been no problems.
Heather has been a delight to have around the house. She is very interesting, smart, pretty and seems to have come from a good family.
Which brings me to my next subject…family.
Family is a big deal in our house. It doesn’t what or who makes up your family or how it looks. Obviously, our family looks a little different than others, but I can assure you we are a healthy, respectable and well-adjusted family. Did I mention HAPPY? Beside Ed, me and the boys, we have a very large and caring family that are very involved in our lives.
This Saturday, we will have the opportunity to meet Heather’s parent. She speaks highly of her family, and from what she has said, they seem to be very nice people. This will be the first time they meet Chris, too. I have no doubt that Chris will leave a good impression on them. We look forward to meeting them.
How bad could it be? I hear they love the Steelers and are part of the SteelerNation too. Should be a wonderful day!
Have a great weekend around the ‘burgh.
And, don’t forget to
