We all need a little help after the holidays and I am no exception.
I don’t crash and I don’t burn. I am refreshed and loving life.
This morning we shot episode 18 of Talk it Out. Our special guest was Fritz, Manager of Pittsburgh Eagle. Fritz updated us on upcoming events at his bar and some insight on buying gay. And, for those rumor spreaders out there… THE EAGLE IS NOT CLOSING! According to Fritz, business is good at the Pittsburgh Eagle and at their other clubs; Pegasus and There. I hear Pegasus now has male dancers every Wednesday night.
Here is an idea… How about dancers for women? This message is not directed at anyone specific. It is just a logical suggestion. The women of our community are a very powerful group and when organized, they are unstoppable. Check out some of the local lesbian blogs and see for yourself.
It has now been one week since NYE. The beginning of the month is always interesting around the office. You never know who might stop in. Since moving to the South Side, we have noticed a major increase in walk-in traffic. Folks stop in to pick up the current issue of Out, to inquire about advertising rates, and to drop off classified ads. Occasionally, we even get customers and friends stopping bye to say hi. Everyone is welcome here.
I believe the move to the South Side was a great choice. It seems as if we moved our office only a few months ago. In reality, it has been almost two years. What a benefit being only one block from the river and walking trail. The trail is an incredible bonus during the spring, summer and fall. When having a stressful day, I take a walk. The joggers down here look like they are having so much fun and look pretty good while they are doing it. Maybe I will join their ranks come this spring.
This Friday is SPARK, an annual event by the Delta Foundation. The party was moved from a mansion on Mt. Washington to the trendy South Side Works at the old Sharper Image location. These guys (and gals) know how to throw one hell of a party. This year promises to be the best ever! Rumor has it that the Fire and Ice themed party will have some outrageous surprises! Sorry, can’t tell you. I promised. For tickets, log onto www.pittsburghpridespace.com, http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/49387 or at the door the night of the event. The address is 517 27th Street on the South Side.
On a different note.
The Allegheny County Non-Discrimination Ordinance Hearing is approaching.
Call your council member and let them know you want to be protected!

The holidays are now over and so is my short vacation. I guess this means I need to update everyone on my life. I do this with much enthusiasm. Really, I do!
I love Christmas. The lights, the gifts and most of all, the good will. This is the time of the year that I hold the door open just a little longer, chat more when checking out at retail stores and keep a smile on my face. Everyone knows smiling is contagious! Spread some.
We had the opportunity to meet Heather’s parents just before the holidays. All went well. Her mother and father seem like really nice and decent people, and if they had a problem with Ed and I, which I believe they did not, they didn’t show it. They visited for a few hours and conversations flowed. This was the first time that they met Chris in person.
It appears they are family oriented too. The entire family spent the Christmas holiday at Hidden Valley Resort. They came from Virgina, California, Alaska and Pittsburgh.
What would the holidays be like without friends and family?
Chris continues to get healthy from his leg surgery that took place mid-December. He is getting around quite well now. This is a good thing for Ed. Chris returns to school next week and Heather will be back from Alaska later this week.
My kids were very pleased with what Santa left under the tree. The younger boys returned to school today after a long break.
Can you believe Ed and I did not get out the entire holiday season? When I say “Get Out”, I am referring to a night out on the town with dancing and a couple of cocktails. We were fortunate to go to a few parties. It wasn’t like the opportunities were not there. We decided to just “hang out” with each other. What a good choice.
Did you watch our first New Year’s Eve show on OTV at www.outonline.com? What a huge success! I cannot believe how many people tuned in! I would like to thank Circle JJ Ranch (www.circlejjranch.com) for their sponsorship of the show and hosts David Stanton and Brian T. Hat off to the many guest, too. I joined the show live from a NYE house party in Irwin. What a lot of fun!
Don’t forget to check me out on Talk It Out. You can listen to this show LIVE every Wednesday at 11am or anytime at Out’s Podcasts www.outonline.com. You never know what will happen on a LIVE broadcast. One of this week’s guests will be Fritz, business manager of Pittsburgh Eagle, Pegasus and There. If you or someone you know would make a great guest on OTV’s Talk It Out, please e-mail Tony Molnar-Strejcek at tony@outonline.com. We would love to have you on the show!
It is now the Monday after NYE. The mail has piled up and many phone messages to return. It is time to focus and plan for a great new year. Last year was not a bad year, however I am still dealing with the loss of my friend and employee, Jeff Howells. It is a shame that he did not get to see the fantastic changes to the newspaper and www.outonline.com’s huge growth.
My 2009 promise is not to be so nice and not always sound like a good guy. I received some e-mail about this and yes, el Lisel I heard your comment on The Pittsburgh View.
I will do my best not to disappoint. What do you like? tony@outonline.com or comment here.
Having said all that, goodbye you jerks!
STOP! I can’t…at least right now. I will try harder.
Only the best in 2009 to my friends, family and readers! I love Ya!
