I have been busy with my staff putting together the March issue of Out. The new issue will be available Thursday at your favorite establishment or on its way to your mailbox. Yes, you can receive Out at your home each issue in a no-peak, seal envelope.
This weekend promises to be quite busy and exciting. Our friends, Matt and Jerry from Rehoboth will be staying with us Thursday through Sunday. They own the Light House Inn, www.lighthouseinn.net. Visiting RB this summer? Check out their ad in Out for details about their inn. The inn is only 1/2 block from the beach and g/l bars shops, beach are nearby. Also visiting this weekend is my cousin Mark, his bf Jeff and their 5 kids. They making the trip from Florida to be with other family members including his sister Charollete and her husband Brian and their kids from Columbus. Lots of “ands” in that paragraph. Great bunch of people. They recently lost their father. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
A weekend of sightseeing awaits. I love showing off Pittsburgh. First time visitors are always surprised to see Pittsburgh so vibrant and beautiful. Folks, the city is not ranked the #1 city in the country for nothing. Try seeing the city through a visitor’s eye. You will realize there is a lot happening here. It will erase your negative attitude.
Now, I will admit, I am a suburb boy…I mean man. It sounds so hot calling myself a suburb boy. We work and play in the city and take advantage of everything it offers.
We recorded a episode of Talk It Out today. It you missed the show live, catch it on http://www.outonline.com/ in the video rotation or click OUTMEDIA. The shows keep getting better and better. I am not sure if this is because we feel more comfortable or because David is always updating equipment and software. Maybe both. We interview some very interesting guests. It amazes me much the viewership of this show has grown.
Ever been to Circle JJ Ranch? It’s a campground/resort in Ohio and just a short live from Pittsburgh. http://www.circlejjranch.com/. We have teamed up with them and are offering weekend accomodations, membership and lots of fun to one luck listener of TIO. The value is $200, but the fun is free and from what I hear, there is pretty of excitement (and sights) around that place. For more details catch TIO next Wednesday at 11am on http://www.outonline.com/ or watch the TIO podcast.
It’s time to sign off. There is plenty to do around the Out offices, at the studio and at home before my guests arrive.
I certainly will have plenty to dish this weekend.

Hi Everyone.
We are putting together the March issue of Out. Can you believe March issue already?
You may ask…”What is involved in putting together a newspaper?” Simply said…a lot. You need an talented and experienced team of editors. We have that. You need creative and experienced graphic designers. We have that. You need a strong base of advertisers. We have that. You need commitment and integrity. We pride ourselves on having that. And, last but NOT least. You need loyal readers. Out has over 30,000 of them.
Really, I have an incredible staff that takes a lot of Pride in newspaper. They are the unsung heroes.

It is cold again. The market is crashing. It is Friday.
My point? It is another week in the ‘Burgh. A wonderful week because we are alive, but damn, I am cold.
You need to order a pizza, cuddle up with the BF and watch Ghost Whisperer or head down to Pegasus and dance your ass off. www.pittpegasus.com.
Matt and Jerry, the owners of Lighthouse Inn in Rehoboth Beach www.lighthouseinn.net will be visiting us from Thursday through Sunday. We cannot wait to show them Pittsburgh. So exciting! Any good ideas? We are going to the Benedum www.pgharts.org on Friday to see Movin’ Out, dinner and/or drinks at Olive or Twist or Six Penn. A must see is the Warhol Museum earlier in the day or Saturday.
My cousin Mark (from FT Lauderdale), his bf Jeff and their kids, and his sister Charlotte and her husband Brian (from Columbus) will be visiting the ‘Burgh. My uncle passed away last week and they are planning a celebration his life get together over the week. It is always wonderful to see them, but unfortunate under these circumstances. You all are in my thoughts.
We are putting together the March issue of Out. Many new updates on www.outonline.com. Just announced this week… we are giving away a free weekend at Circle JJ Ranch for two to one lucky viewer. www.circlejjranch.com. More details on Talk It Out every Wednesday at 11am or click on OUTMEDIA to view the show.

Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day.
Do something special for your partner. It doesn’t need to be expensive. The most precious thing you can give someone is your time. If material items are more precious to your spouse, than you may want to read Ms. Behavior’s monthly columns in Pittsburgh’s Out or www.outonline.com.
There is nothing wrong with spending time with the boyfriend and surprising him with roses, dinner and movie. I think Milk is still at the theaters.

Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with expensive jewelry, however if that gift doesn’t come attached with some time and love than I don’t want it.
More importantly, its the small things we do everyday that truly matter. Do those things and yield a bigger payoff (and jewelry) down the road. I am far from perfect, but I try to bring home flowers and small gifts occasionally, and not just on birthdays and anniversaries. If I am out shopping for myself, I always try to pick someone up for Ed. He loves the surprise and never feels left out. And, as most of you know, I place a classified ad in Out for Ed. Think it’s silly? You are wrong. Nothing pleases me more than watching his face light up while reading his classified ad.
Want some advice for this Valentine’s Day? Give the gift of time.
Don’t have a special someone? Spend some time with your parents, family or friends. Maybe they don’t have that type of special someone either. Maybe your time could make a difference to yourself and someone else. Think about it.
It’s all about love, stupid. Show someone how much you love them by spending some time with them. Trust me, it will make you feel good.
Happy Valentine’s Day Edward! I love you babe…4-ever!
Happy Valentine’s Day friends.

How is your week going? I guess mine is going well.
This Friday is the ad deadline for the March issue of Out. Advertise your business or place a classified. Did you see the February issue? www.outonline.com
The week started peacefully, but will end very busy because of the ad deadline.
I enjoy this time of the month. This is when I have the best opportunity to chat with my customers about what is happening in their lives and around their establishments without many interruptions. I think it is important to get to know your customers and because of this, many of them have become good friends. You meet many colorful and very interesting people when running a lgbt newspaper. All are unique and I am proud of the many friendships developed.
We spend so much of our time at work. Why not enjoy it. I do!
Ed and I did the typical weekend chores last weekend. He was busy putting in three faucets on Saturday while I did some cleaning around the house. Afterwards, we kind of hung out for the evening. I welcomed this after a busy week.
Saturday adventures, kind of…
Ever been to C&B Birds for their monthly bird socials? www.cbbirds.net. Interesting and very crowded event. C&B is located in the East Oakmont neighborhood of Plum Boro in a warehouse. They sell bird and other pet supplies. Once a month, they turn their space into a social for bird lovers with seminars and vendors from all over the region. I must admit, the first couple of times, Ed had to take me kicking and screaming, but after a while I learned to enjoy the socials. These events are not for the faint of heart. If you do not like crowded warehouses filled with people and their birds, stay home or visit the mall instead. Mark and Dennis, two friends we have known for many years, are at every social selling their birds. Some of you may know Mark from his past connection with the newspaper. It is nice seeing him and Dennis at the events. Even more so recently as Mark has overcome some unfortunate circumstances. Keep up the good work, Mark.
After the social, we cut through the hills and back roads of Plum and Oakmont looking for a shortcut to Pittsburgh Mills www.pittsburghmills.com. We ended up in Springdale. I had to swallow my pride and ask for directions. That was a hard blow and very degrading to my manhood. I felt really stupid when I remembered the navigation system in my SUV that could have been utilized to eliminated my embarrassment. This must be how straight guys feel.
The Alle-Kiski Home Show was going on at PM. B-O-R-I-N-G! This ain’t the convention center or Monroeville’s home show. I admit, it was not that bad, but we are spoiled with the Monroeville and Pittsburgh home shows. The vendors are located throughout the mall and there is no entrance fee. It’s Free and very informative. PM is a really nice mall. Try walking around that place. It’s huge! <<<< I love saying and hearing that! Love hearing it more.
All malled out and hungry, we headed to Chili’s located next to mall. We were finally seated in the crowded restaurant. I am always amazed how long of a wait we have at any of PM’s restaurants. One thing that annoys me when we dine out is when it is time for the check or when the waitperson asks if it is men’s night out. With the latter, we politely mention that every night is men’s night in our family as our family consists of all guys. But, when the waitperson asks if it will be one or two checks, I get annoyed. Haven’t you people ever seen a non-traditional family? This does not happen often around Pittsburgh, but occasionally it comes up. Years ago, the look on their faces said it all, but we do not usually get that enjoyment any longer as times have changed. My advice. If you want that big tip, respect and acknowledge my family.
One of my happiest memories of when the younger boys first came to us… I was grocery shopping at Shop-n-Save with Matt and Altin. It was finally our turn to check out and the cashier turns toward Altin. She said “It is wonderful to see you guys shopping. Where’s your mommy?” Altin’s answer… “We don’t have a mommy, but we have two dads.” He said it as if he was bragging. The expression on her face said it all. I turned to the lady behind me and witnessed a warm and glowing smile. Life is wonderful! Hopefully, the next time the cashier is in that same situation, she will remember that in America, all families are not traditional. Thank God, we are not all the same. I hope her definition of what makes a family changed that day.
You and I know…LOVE MAKES A FAMILY.
Times are changing…
