My head is spinning. It has been a very busy week in my life.
We just released our May issue of Out and, if that isn’t enough, we have been busy updating www.outonline.com.
I admit, it is a chore, a fun one at that, keeping the site updated, adding new features to the newspaper, keeping new messages flowing on my Facebook and outonline’s Twitter and broadcasting our live shows.
Thanks for visiting this blog, our website and for reading the the newspaper. That alone, makes it all worth while.
Over the next few days, I will be busy distributing Out. I love getting out and visiting with all the LGBT bars, clubs and establishments. We also drop newspapers at LGBT friendly organizations and businesses like area colleges, Borders Books, restaurants and so much more. Out’s distribution is so vast that it is hard to realize how many locations where it is available. It has taken 37 years to get to this point. I thank you, the reader for the hundreds of drop-off locations, thousands of copies printed and readership of over 30,000. Add your business today.
Show PRIDE! Advertise your business in our JUNE PRIDE ISSUE. Ad deadline is May 11. Call 412-381-3350 or send me an e-mail tony@outpub.com. Money well spent. Beef up your advertising for a few day dollars more by advertising on www.outonline.comfor $6 a day for an animated banner. Check out our many advertisers now. Proof that advertising in Out and online works!
You already know Out newspaper is the largest LGBT publication in the tri-state, but did you know www.outonline.comis the largest LGBT wesbite in Pittsburgh? Our site is nearing 200,000 unique visitors over the past few months!
As many of you know, David Morrow, a former owner of Pegasus and Sidekicks passed away last Friday. David gave so much to his bars, the LGBT youth of the city and organizations. Services were held in his hometown on Tuesday. Thank you to all that attended. Scott Noxon, current owner of the Eagle, Pegasus and There attended with Fritz, Rodney and several others. Scott informed me that turnout was good with a large amount of GLBT people from Pittsburgh. Probably the most gays David’s hometown has ever seen or the gayest it has ever been…
I guess this is another reminder that life is too short. We need to make the most out of it and be kind to one another. David and Jeff Howells have shown us that even in a small amount of time, you can make a difference for the LGBT community and in so many lives. I can hear David now… “Honey, life is too short, grab a cocktail and start enjoying it.”

I am busy working late in the office trying to close out this issue’s ad. The good news is I am still here which means there are lots of ads and invoicing. The bad news is Ed and the boys are waiting for me at home. I can hear…honey can you pick up Subway?
I would rather be here than sitting in that Penguin traffic for tonight’s opener of the playoffs. Go Pens! How about the fans in this city supporting the boys? Over 200 sellouts in a row, a giant jumbo-tron outside the arena tonight for thousands of fans who could not get tickets.
Only in Pittsburgh can you go to a sold-out sporting event without a ticket and see the whole game. Maybe that is why the Pens have one of the best attendance figures in the NHL and top selling merchandise in the county. This is even more amazing when you consider this is Steeler Nation. Pittsburgh Pirates, you listening?
OK. I may be at work doing ads and invoicing, but my mind is thinking about spending the evening with Ed and boys. Now, if only I can convince him that nothing else is on TV tonight other than the Penguin game in HD. Any ideas?
Oh–Puck-It! I am going to close up the office and head home. Those excited fans that clogged the roads into town are by now sipping (um, I mean chugging) Iron City Beer and eating nachos while watching the pre-game on the jumbo-tron outside the Mellon Arena.
I choose Ed…even if that means reruns of The Tutors.
Did I mention we have a large flat screen HD TV in our bedroom?

Wishing my sister and a good friend a speedy recovery from the hospital. It seems like we just got through my mom’s heart attack. Here we are, once again with nightly trips to West Penn Hospital.
Easter Sunday turned out to be very busy. The kids were up at 7am to see what the Easter Bunny left for them. We all got dressed and headed to Ed’s mom’s church for breakfast with her. Afterwards, we enjoyed Easter service and then headed to my sister’s house where my mom and dad would arrive later. We were fortunate to enjoy a quick meal with them and my sister’s family.
Off to the next stop. Perfect timing, good luck or the fact that we were running late (happen often), dinner awaited us as soon as we entered Doe’s (Ed’s mom) house. We had another delicious dinner followed by coffee and desert. Chris and Heather re-joined us. They were also at breakfast and church service with us earlier.
Pittsburgh here we come… Down Parkway East to famous Heinz Hall for none other than A Chorus Line. Heather, Chris’ girlfriend was so excited about seeing the muscical and so were all three boys. Great show. Check out the review on Out’s website by F.J. www.outonline.com.
Our final stop before heading home was the emergency room at West Penn Hospital to see my sister. Her dinner must have done her in… because after everyone left, she headed to the ER and was admitted. As I write this, she is headed home and feeling much better.
What started out as another holiday, ended as another family holiday. It doesn’t matter where you spend it as long as you are surrounded by the ones you love.
